What are ETFs?

Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) are investment funds traded and listed on a stock exchange. They track the performance of an index and give investors access to a range of markets and asset classes like Equities, REITs, Bonds and Commodities. Instead of buying a handful of individual stocks and bonds, investing into ETFs offer investors the opportunity to build a well-diversified portfolio with a relatively small capital outlay. 1

Advantages of investing into ETFs:

The Supplementary Retirement Scheme (SRS) is a government-led initiative to help Singaporeans prepare for old age by building their retirement nest in advance. SRS complements the Central Provident Fund (CPF) and is voluntary. The SRS offers attractive tax benefits as contributions to SRS are eligible for a dollar-to-dollar tax relief, up to a personal income tax relief cap of S$80,000 per Year of Assessment2. SRS account holders can invest in any ETFs that are listed on SGX.
